In HONOR of Duke the Dog
Duke is a hard working dog. His job is as a livestock guardian. He is an Anatolian Sheepdog (sometimes called Anatolian Shepherd) bred in Turkey to protect their animals. They are large, muscular and intelligent dogs upwards of 150 or more pounds. He takes his job seriously and loves his goats. He also protects the outdoor cats and chickens. When I had pigeons he protected them too.
Update: Duke passed away 3 years after he was diagnosed with Cushings disease. He was 15 yrs old. Duke was an amazing dog and his ability and courage as a livestock guardian was unparalleled. He loved his goats and all the animals and birds in his care, and they loved him. He will be missed by all.
